Diana and David will be taking you on their favourite walk!  This special walk takes us along the seashore, through the woodlands and across the limestone pavements of Arnside, one of Lancashire’s AONB’s (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Starting from the pier in Arnside, the walk passes around Arnside Knott where we will pause to take in the panoramic views of the Lake District Mountains and the wide expanse of Morecambe Bay. After taking a look at the ruins of Arnside Tower, we will make our way to Beetham Woods to find the path that the fairies take. Arnside has numerous teashops and hostelries for anyone who wants to indulge in a little après ramble. This is a beautiful part of Lancashire and often overlooked because of its proximity to the Lake District; it’s well worth visiting!

Essential Information: Part of the pleasure of a walk in the countryside is the opportunity to experience a variety of terrain and weather conditions and it is important that you dress accordingly.  Walking boots must be worn and wet weather gear is essential.  A wide brimmed hat, sunscreen and a long sleeve shirt are advisable during summer months.  It can be cooler on higher ground so a spare warm layer is advisable.   Bring sufficient food and drink for the whole day – it is very important that you do not underestimate how much you will need to drink on a hot day.

Directions:  Head north on the M6 and exit at junction 35. Take first exit on the roundabout and follow the dual carriageway to the next roundabout. Take second exit heading north on the A6 - signpost Milnthorpe. Stay on the A6 for 7 miles until you reach the traffic lights in the centre Milnthorpe. Turn left onto the B5282 - signpost Arnside. Straight on for 3 miles and turn right after you pass under the railway bridge.  Pass Arnside railway station. Car parking is available along the seafront in Arnside. Journey time is a little over an hour from Manchester. O.S. Grid reference:  SD 456788
